Having closed on the house, Lou and I got started on the list of projects. Lucky for us it's all cosmetic updating. So with the help of Mim (aka our mom) we were able to get all three bedrooms totally painted. And I mean TOTALLY. See the lovely house is grey. All of it. Baseboards, walls, ceiligns, carpets, all shades of grey. It's one of my favorite colors, and there is just too much of it! We went into each room and had to paint the ceilings white and then our choice of wall colors. My room got a bold dose of rich teal that only likes to photograph as BSU blue - I'll work on a better photo:
The color is Tropical Skies from Behr and actually looks like this:
It's really a terrible photo of the room! Okay so on to Jax's room. Lou wanted a space that he would want to play in that was fun but not too baby-ish since he did just turn 3 on Monday. He got grass and sky!
He is very helpful :)
Then it was Lou's room. We are very similar sisters in a lot of ways. We talk the same, walk the same, and do a lot of things the same. But there are few stark differences between us. I'm taller, need glasses, have dark hair and enjoy art. She is mini sized, perfect vision, with short very blonde hair and totally nerds out to science. There is also a HUGE difference in our choice of decorating. Case and point being: her room is pink. Very pink.
Now I know that for years and years I refused to acknowledge the existence of any other colors in the world other than pink. I'm not denying my long history with the color! But it seems all those years I had pink stuff and she got purple just made her want pink stuff more. And at first I said a huge no to the pink paint. But after some thought and seeing what she was going to do with the rest of the room, plus the promise of a new washer and dryer, I agreed to it. I even helped out, and she took the opportunity to document my support:
The first weekend project is done! And this weekend I'll be working on repainting the bathrooms. We did also put together a vision board for what the living room will eventually be. It's currently home to the horrible flower couch and boxes of random things we're not sure what to do with. But eventually it will have the following elements in it:
The color scheme is going to be white, grey, tan, coral and brown. Once the new AMAZING couch is here, it'll all start coming together. Cheers to this weekend and wish me luck with the bathroom painting!
